Introduction

Welcome to the second MSQ Sustainability Report. An annual assessment of our most up-to-date carbon footprint data and an in-depth look at the sustainability activity and future plans across the MSQ group.

It’s really important for us as a business to be open and transparent when it comes to sustainability, and we believe that all companies – especially those like us who specialise in communications – share their learnings and their progress in innovative ways as part of a robust Net Zero strategy.

Whilst our carbon footprint was always expected to increase in 2022 due to the business world regaining momentum following two years dominated by Covid, I’m extremely proud of the myriad staff schemes and wider business initiatives that our sustainability team have put in place as we strive to reach our Science Based Reduction Targets.

All key statistics can be found in the ‘Numbers’ section of this report, whilst in ‘Spotlight’, MSQ’s Chief Sustainability Officer, James Cannings, digs into the changes to our carbon footprint and what that means for the group’s sustainability strategy going forward.

We also have key insight from our business leaders around low carbon platforms, thinking creatively in sustainable comms and how brands can address the ‘elephant in the room’. Because we believe that we should be supporting our clients’ carbon reduction efforts, as well as our own. And we hope this report is a valuable tool for all businesses and individuals on their sustainability journey.
